Dianne Kidd, B.A. MInstD, Director
Chairman – IRIS Ltd
Dianne joined the IRIS Board as an independent director in November 2007. She has over 20 years of governance experience with Not for Profit organisations. Dianne is also Councillor of Work Place Savings New Zealand (the industry council for work place superannuation) and Deputy Chairman of the Helensville District Health Trust. She has recently been appointed to the Board of PSIS Ltd. Dianne retired from her role as Head of Wholesale Distribution for ASB Group Investments Ltd in 2007. She held national responsibility for wholesale superannuation investments sales and was an integral part of the specialist team who delivered ASB KiwiSaver to the market.
Dr Lee Mathias
Dr Lee Mathias has many years experience in the New Zealand health sector as a registered nurse, university lecturer, manager and business owner. Her expertise ranges from governance, including a number of independent directorships, entrepreneur coaching, and contract lecturing for Masters programmes in Auckland and the Pacific. Dr Mathias is currently involved in the biotech start-up diagnostics company Pictor Limited. She is an Accredited Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand, an Associate Fellow of the NZIHM and a member of the Midwifery Council of NZ.
Paul Conder
Paul Conder has been a director of Venturo Limited, Opotiki Health Centre Holdings Limited and an alternate director of HealthShare Limited. Paul is a former councilor of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also served on the Institute’s Audit Finance & Risk Management, Public Sector, Waikato/Bay of Plenty and Coastal Bay of Plenty Committees. He is a past chair of the Awhina Lodge Society in Taupo. Paul has over 20 years experience working with KPMG in Auckland, Taupo Electricity Limited, Eastbay Health Limited and Bay of Plenty District Health Board. He is now the Chief Financial Officer at Unitec Institute of Technology
Karl Sangster
Karl was appointed to the Board of IRIS in November 2004 as one of the two Cerebral Palsy Society representatives on this Board. He is currently the President of the Cerebral Palsy Society of New Zealand and has been on this Board since September 2002. Karl is married and has two sons, William and James. William has Cerebral Palsy and Karl’s first introduction into the way that IRIS can change a child’s life was enrolling William into IRIS Conductive Education in 2000. William was two years old and could not crawl or walk. After over a year in IRIS Conductive Education, William was standing on his own and taking the first steps of his life. William is now an 11 year old boy attending mainstream school and walking normally on his own.
Jan Bierman
Jan Bierman is an independent management consultant with a wealth of management and professional leadership experience. She has had significant experience consulting in the health sector, specifically in disability and mental health, and is interested in improving the health and well-being of consumers, and the organisation's relationship with stakeholders. She joined the Board in October 2008. Jan is also a director of a branding and marketing agency, and is an accredited business mentor.
Deborah Espiner
Debbie is Principal Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, University of Auckland in the fields of disability studies and special education. She has a strong background in supporting students with disabilities within the education system and adults within community settings. Debbie has had considerable experience designing and teaching programmes for teachers and human service workers and facilitating Ministry of Education research contracts.
Daniel Aldersley
Daniel was appointed to the Board of IRIS in March 2010 as one of the two Cerebral Palsy Society representatives on this Board. He is currently the Vice President of the Cerebral Palsy Society of New Zealand and has been on this Board since 2007. Daniel is married and has a daughter, Sophia. Sophia attended IRIS Conductive Education from 2005 to 2008 and during this period made enormous progress on her gross and fine motor skills. Daniel has over 10 years experience in the telecommunications sector and holds a senior strategy role with Telecom New Zealand.
